ILymph Clinic-Dr. Ahmed Sawaby

Dr. Ahmed Sawaby

Dr. Ahmed Sawaby graduated from the Faculty of Human Medicine, Alexandria University in 2001. He was awarded the membership of the Royal Surgeon of England in 2008 and a PhD of vascular and endovascular surgery in 2013. He is now working as Lecturer of Vascular Surgery. Since then, he decided to explore the difficult vascular disorders in lymphedema (LE) and lymphatic diseases (LD), as it is endemic in Egypt. He discovered that this disease has a socioeconomic impact as 50% of patients suffer from uncontrollable pain, 80% have to take time of work off, 8% stop work completely and 27% require hospital admission.

Ahmed spent effort searching for LE/LD management by attending international meetings and learning sophisticated tools, such as vascular duplex and micro vascular surgery, to treat lymphedema patients. Also, he started the ILymph Clinic. This unique clinic spreads updated information about LE/LD and educates patients and surgeons with new techniques like micro vascular surgery, ultrasound duplex examination and special infrared investigation of lymphatic vessels.
